Wallace Power Services recently finished the overhaul of an 800kva Perkins 3012 engined machine. The engine had suffered cross contamination between the coolant to the lubricating oil and now was no longer able to provide back up power when necessary to a refrigerated transport distribution centre. The unit was stripped on site and all cylinder heads taken for pressure testing and valve refacing off site, the oil cooler was also removed for pressure testing. The engine was also given a thorough flush through to remove all contaminated oil when stripped, then all block and head core plugs were replaced with new stainless steel type before the engine was rebuilt. The fuel injection pump and cooling water pump were both overhauled by specialists when the unit was stripped to ensure trouble free running when the unit is returned to service. To top things off we carried out a full loadtest using our mobile resistive loadbank.
